Blizzard Basketball

One of the craziest things I did this month was to go to a Chicago Bulls basketball game on the day it didn’t stop snowing for 18 hours.  There was so much snow accumulation that people had difficulty coming into work.  They pushed back the game to start an hour later so I told my brother we might be ok.  It would give the city some time to clean up the streets.  We rode downtown via Blue Line and then took an Uber the rest of the way.  Needless to say, we won the game and had a blast.  Hey when you live in Chicago you always ride out the storm!

I layered up since it was cold!

Game Night

Sorry I’ve been MIA.  As you can see, catching up on the blog was NOT one of my New Year’s Resolutions!  Lol.  I got a little depressed as the year ended.  I knew a total of 5 people that have passed away in 2017 and it was hard to look back at all the memories that I made with them.  I did not want to reflect too much and decided to keep busy with friends and family.  I am feeling much better and am excited for future plans again.  Sometimes it takes a minute to go through the emotions, but I’m blessed being surrounded with people who care.
I actually won some tickets for a Bulls game during the holidays.  I decided to surprise my brother.  He’s never been to the skybox lounge at the United Center, and was very excited to go.  We had a great time.  I’m not big on sports, but we stayed until the very end to get the full experience.  Needless to say, I reminded him that was his Christmas present.  Lol.  Gotta love that brother-sister bond!

OUTRAGEOUS!

Trying to finish up August events before I fly out!  I’m SO FREAKING NERVOUS!!!  I was doing good yesterday by finishing up a spiritual book on forgiveness.  I’m mostly a self-help book guru but I got this book from my church and figured I’ll do a quick read before I order my next book.  Believe it or not, it did bring up some interesting insights on forgiveness.  I realized that I needed to forgive myself for getting so anxious.  I am human after all.  I also have to have more faith that everything will be alright.  Easier said than done, but I know once I land safely, my new adventure awaits!

The last weekend of August I had dinner with a friend at Masada.  He has been eating a vegetarian diet lately, so this was the perfect spot for some good food!  He loved everything on his plate, and I enjoyed my “Little Village” cocktail.  We also lucked out on the belly dancer performing that evening.  It was a lovely evening.

Earlier that day, my firm held a raffle for a pair of Lionel Richie and Mariah Carey tickets at the Unite Center.  Once I heard they were going to do this, I envisioned me and my mom dancing along to his music.  I couldn’t believe I won!!  I was so excited I texted my mom right away.  She was in Michigan for a few days but was going to return that Saturday for the concert.

The thing about my mom, she was rushing me a bit so we wouldn’t miss the show.  I explained that we would be fine, but I could tell she was anxious on getting there “on time”.  I realized she was just as excited as I was.  We got to our skybox lounge pretty early and met the other attendees.  It was then when I finally started to relax.  I had to bring my phone charger because I didn’t have time to fully charge it at home!

Needless to say, the show was amazing.  For those who are curious, Mariah did sing those high notes, but Lionel was the star of this show!  He brought everyone “dancing on the ceiling”.  He even performed songs from the Commodores.  The crowd went crazy for “All night long” as well as “we are the world”.  I just love the 80s!

Bulls vs Charlotte!

The pre-season of basketball began a couple of weeks ago and I got lucky scoring some tickets to watch the Bulls play.  Me along with some other co-workers were invited to the United Center at our company's suite.  I brought along a change of clothes so I could get comfortable after work.  I absolutely HATE socializing in work attire.  lol.  I only own one Chicago Bulls shirt, but since I am not into sports, I'm proud of myself for owning that!  Sports for me go in one ear out the other, but I am aware of it's presence here in the city.  Yes I'm aware that our teams sometimes do well, but it's our sports venues that really grab my attention.  The United Center is also used for the Chicago Black Hawks as well as concerts and shows that come into town.  It was fun hanging out with my co-workers after hours.  I can't believe our Holiday Party is right around the corner!  Yikes!!

During the pre-season games, not as many seats fill up...

My friend brought along his youngest son since he's allowed free entry.  He met the United Center's requirements and had a blast!  Check out the matching Jordans!

Here comes Benny the Bull!

Unfortunately, we didn't score any free t-shirts!  Oh well!
